In 1989 celebrity hairstylist Sean James’ talents as a wigmaker brought him to America on a special visa. After finishing a four year apprenticeship learning the Vidal Sassoon method under Australia’s leading stylist Oscar Cullinan, he was encouraged to explore the world. During his first week in the U.S. he worked on the South African short film, "Senzanai Look What We've Done," which was later nominated for an Oscar. Sean's destiny had begun.
He then moved to London for two years, where he gained his sense of style and received a great education in fashion working with the crew from Vivienne Westwood. With his new appreciation for fashion, he returned to fashion-thirsty Los Angeles, where he worked at the Fred Segal Salon in Santa Monica. Additionally, he became an educator and color specialist at the Los Angeles Flagship store for L’Oreal, training young stylists. In 2001, Sean became a part of the creative team for Redken, keying many fashion shows, including Dolce and Gabanna, Valentino, Gucci, Balmain, and Burberry working in London, New York and Paris.
