Melissa Leo's Knock-Out Updo

At the 68th Annual Golden Globes Awards, actress Melissa Leo walked down the red carpet every inch a winner, starting at the top with her casually glamorous updo, and alluring sequined gown. And she walked away a winner, landing a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress Performance in a Motion Picture for her star turn in “The Fighter.” “To create Melissa’s textured updo, I wanted a soft, romantic elegance to contrast with the strong architectural lines of her gown,” says celebrity stylist Creighton Bowman of Exclusive Artists Management. Now on a media tour with Melissa that seems Oscar-bound, Creighton takes us behind the scenes to show how he styled her award-winning look.

Step 1

For more body and fullness, I started with towel-dried hair, applying MODELING PASTE at the crown. Next, I worked René Furterer Tonucia No Rinse Densifying Mousse from roots to ends through the rest of Melissa’s hair.

Step 2

I set my blow-dryer on low to give hair a soft blow-out. This helps to maintain the natural texture.

Step 3

Next, curling hair with a one-inch-wide curling iron enhanced Melissa’s waves. Spraying sections with VEGETAL FINISHING SPRAY before curling helped to set curls while leaving hair soft and supple.

Step 4

To create a more fashion-forward, roughened-up texture, I sprayed hair with NATURIA DRY SHAMPOO, lightly back-combed hair at the roots, and then pinned hair into a classic French twist. Leaving a few pieces loose around Melissa’s face softens the look.

Step 5

I finished with an all-over misting of VEGETAL FINISHING SPRAY to add long-lasting hold and a star-worthy satin finish. Melissa’s updo held up beautifully, from her first step on the red carpet to her onstage moment showing off her award—and her effortless glamour.

Helen Mirren's Stellar Style

When it comes to natural sophistication, actress Helen Mirren always delivers, both on-screen and off. And her presence at the 68th Annual Golden Globes Awards was no exception. Stunning in her Badgley Mischka gown and glittering Chopard diamonds, Helen expressed regal confidence and her own inimitable spirit with her softly tousled short coif, styled by celebrity stylist Creighton Bowman of Exclusive Artists Management. “More than the gown and the jewels, Helen herself was my inspiration for creating her look,” says Creighton. “The idea was to translate her glamorous persona and fantastic personality into a style that shows off the real Helen Mirren.”  Here’s how Creighton worked his magic.

Step 1

Starting on wet hair, I applied VOLUMEA VOLUMIZING FOAM, and gave Helen’s hair a blow-out, brushing random pieces to turn out in different directions.

Step 2

For body and height at the crown, I set the top layers in small Velcro rollers, using VEGETAL FINISHING SPRAY to lock in the style while keeping hair silky to the touch.

Step 3

Once Helen’s makeup was applied, giving the rollers time to cool, I removed the rollers, sprayed hair with NATURIA DRY SHAMPOO and brushed it through. This enhanced body and fullness.

Step 4

Last, I made a cocktail of STYLING WAX and MODELING PASTE, rubbing a dab of each in the palms of my hands and lightly smoothing them over ends of hair for a sleek finish. The gorgeous result: a style that’s both beautifully natural and ultra cool—and utterly Helen Mirren.

Jane Krakowski's La Dolce Vita Moment

Between the provocative one-shoulder Badgley Mischka gown skimming over her baby bump and her tousled, sensual waves, actress and mother-to-be Jane Krakowsi looked as if she’d stepped out of the ‘60s film classic La Dolce Vita at the 68th Annual Golden Globes Awards. “Jane’s look is a nod to the glamour and sensuality of ‘50s and ‘60s European stars such as Anita Ekberg and Brigitte Bardot,” says celebrity stylist Creighton Bowman of Exclusive Artists Management. “And now that Jane is expecting, she’s more glowing and beautiful than ever,” says Creighton. “I wanted to show that moms-to-be are sexy too!” Here’s how Creighton created Jane’s alluring look.

Step 1

Starting on towel-dried hair, I applied VOLUMEA VOLUMIZING FOAM at the roots, and then worked MODELING PASTE through to the ends. Next, I gave hair a blow-out using a medium styling brush.

Step 2

To contrast the height at the crown, I smoothed the front sections to be smoother and closer to the head, and then parted hair down the middle for a flattering face-framing look.

Step 3

Next, I created soft waves with a one-inch-wide curling iron. And for the ultimate La Dolce Vita glamorous finish, I sprayed hair with VEGETAL FINISHING SPRAY to ensure soft hold and GLOSSING SPRAY.
